Cleo, the Sacred Source Cat

We at Sacred Source have been graced with presence of Cleo, who adopted us in the fall of 2004. She is a wonderfully loving feline, eager to share her affection (and cat hair) with each of us. Not an elitist, she also shares her time with Bim, a large old black lab who often visits the Gaia Center. Cleo will curl up with Bim on our large deck to share the warmth of sunny days. Cleo's relaxed, balanced energy keeps all of us on an even keel, and reminds us of the Bast within each of us. We try to include a Cleo update in each of our newsletters. If you'd like to join our email newsletter list, click here.

Cleo (Cleopatra), the Sacred Source cat, was a shelter cat relinquished because she was pregnant. Her kittens all found homes, but she needed to find a cat lover with no other cats. The Gaia Center needed that special homey touch that only the presence of a cat can bring. She's happy, healthy, affectionate and playful, the queen of her domain.

Hi and happy to see all the lovely kitties. I have a Maine coon cat who appeared at our home very mysteriously as a kitten. This was shortly after our two very elderly cats died of old age. We feel Pippin was sent to us to provide us with a little comfort after our losses. He is a huge bundle of energy and likes to pounce on me when I'm working in the garden. He seems to come from nowhere and many times he even walks through the door. I know he is in the house, yet when I get up in the morning I have found him outside on several occasions. Neither my husband or I let him out and the doors are locked. Cats are indeed mystical creatures....

Hi ! I am so happy to see that you are cat-lovers ! There is so much they can teach us about love, patience, wisdom and friendship ! I have 8 cats in my home, they are all indoor cats, and spayed..... (we also have 2 dogs, 2 ferrets and 2 guinea pigs...) and they are such wonderful company. Our oldest cat, Simba, a gray and white domestic shorthair, is almost 19, and was born with a crooked leg..... The others are Butch and Sundance, age 14 (twins) , Oreo, black with little white feet , is now age 13, Nala, mostly white and age 12, Maxi a fluffy black and white longhair is 6, and two rescue cats of unknown age, but fairly young....Caesar, and LucyFur, complete the cat family. The last two are the best of friends and always sleep together -- he is a lovely fluffy orange kitty with golden eyes but he has a permanent tilt to his head due to nerve damage, and Lucyfur was a feral cat. My daughter took in her two male kittens, and we adopted mom....she is a beautiful black kitty, and although she allows us to feed her and talk to her, she will not let anyone touch her....yet. On Valentine's Day this year, we lost a beloved friend, Georgie, a tiny but talkative calico lady age 14, to a cardiac arrest. She was my daughter's best pal since Katie was 2....always slept on her bed and followed us around continually commenting on everything !! We miss her terribly, and have a special shrine in our front hall for her ashes and devoted to her. Her sons Butch and Sundance are HUGE orange adults now, and they talk and purr all the time ! Butch is always waiting at the door when we return home and meows a greeting, just like his mom Georgie did. I guess he felt it was his duty to take over her job ! The day after Georgie died, my daughter is sure that she saw her spirit --- a small light that moved down the hall at night and went into her bedroom. When Katie went into the room, it had vanished. How lovely to think that Georgie came back to say goodbye to the little girl who grew up with her. I have only seen her, running swiftly and silently on her tiny white paws, through my dreams. Many blessings to all of you and a hug to Cleo - Janelle

Hi!  I loved reading the Cleo section of your website. Our beloved Anya Bastet was also a young mother cat when we rescued her in early 2001.  Her five equally beautiful kittens (who were less than one day old when Anya led me to her birthing nest in an alley near our home) were all adopted into strongly Goddess- and cat-oriented homes, after we had a spiritual insight that they were "cat-a-lysts" for the transformation of their new human companions.  We really put the potential adopters through the third degree!  And all of them have reported remarkable experiences with Dion, Yorkie, Trip, Slowpoketail, and Froggy. At the time when we adopted Anya, a Buddhist friend told us, "Every temple must have a cat, and now that you have a cat, then your home is a temple." She was right, and Anya has been a cat-a-lyst for our spiritual paths also. I loved the picture of Cleo sleeping on your Durga shrine.  I keep both Durga and Bastet images on my shrine, so that Anya can also worship there. She often brings little gifts to the shrine, such as feathers or (her personal favorite collectible) the plastic rings from milk cartons. Thanks for a real day-brightener!  Love and blessings! - Kathleen (human), and my family... Jim (human), Anya (cat), Fred (dog), Underwood (hamster), and in memory of Sunny Delight (parakeet).

I love Cleo's page. I recently (Nov 15, 2005) lost my familiar to a long term illness. In her honor I adopted a shelter cat named Leo. Asherah was everything I had ever dreamed of since I was 8 years old. She was a beautiful blue point Siamese and there will never be another one like her. I bought your statue of the Goddess Asherah in her honor and I absolutely love it. I still wear her collar around my wrist, but when it starts to get worn out I'll put it around the statue. I have attached a picture of my Asherah so you can see how beautiful she is. Please show it to Cleo. Brightest Blessings -- Chelli

I love the pictures of Cleo, and seeing the responses from Cleo's little fans, along with their pictures as well. :)  I thought I would send along a picture of my friend, Malu (also known as Luey). He is only 2 years old, and I've had him since he was one. He's a great companion, very upbeat (or crazy...just depends on the day. ha ha). Love the site! Thanks - Heather

I was enjoying your site and then saw a picture of Cleo... I sort of did a double take. I would like for you to meet Mosey.... She was a dumpster cat that after
much coaxing and much wet cat food decided to grace her presence at my farm. She is just one of the 7 fine felines that has found their way to my farm on Mystic
Lane. She is my ample girthed girl. Peace and cheers -- Ann

It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul & looking at Cleo, you can tell she has seen & done a lot of things. She has what I call "peaceful" eyes-She knows what's going on & takes things in stride (always making sure things go in her favor of course!). I believe you were meant to have her as a companion. From some of the very strange ways I have gotten my "purr buddies" through the years, I firmly believe it is destiny for each of us to find the other. I'm so glad Cleo "found"you & that she now has a happy home. So much contentment seems to ooze from her it can be seen through the pictures. She is a wonderful "ambassador" for your site. Karen

When I took the time to investigate you "Cleo's page" I was amazed as how Samhain (my cat) and Cleo could be sisters! ... I enclosed a picture of Her ... she was dedicated to Hecate on Samhain about 12 years ago ... I really love your catalog and your site and will use you for years to come ... outside my home I have a gnarled old ash tree with may nitches ... it is my Goddess tree and I have many of your statues displayed there.

I love your photos and updates about Cleo.  She looks like a wise soul, an old spirit who has finally found her place in the world.  I’ve had several cats in my life, but the current master of my domain is Loki.  Photo attached.  He is just what his name suggests, with the exception that he is remarkably calm and tolerant of my two young sons.  Many blessings to Cleo and to all of you at Sacred Source.

Dear Friends at Sacred Source,
Thank you for sharing the beautiful and lively photos of Cleo. Her calm wisdom shines in her gorgeous eyes. May I ask Cleo's permission to show her picture with Diana to my Classical Mythology class when we study goddesses of the hunt? Here are photos of my two ladies to join Cleo's gallery of friends: Chloe, also a huntress, and Stevie, who loves to meditate.

Tiggy is a friend of Cleo, too! I, everyone,

I enjoyed reading about Cleo, and see how many online friends she has made! My Tiggy is shown here at various times during the two years she has lived with me. The daughter of a client of mine found this tiny kitten alongside the 110 Fwy (in Southern California) in afternoon rush hour traffic. She careened over to the side and rescued Tiggy (actually Tigger for her stripes), and offered her to me. After many years of being pet-less, I hesitated at first, but now can't imagine life without my "Tig."

So, in the spirit of Bastet, Tiggy and I send our best wishes to you and to Cleo.

Valarie

Meow! from Socks

Dear Cleo,

I'm Sock and my Cathy likes to spend money buying statues from your shop. I always check out what my staff is doing and I found this site in "favorite links." I must say I am pleased that you run such a smooth establishment. As I always say, "If you want it done right, hire a cat!" Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

Socks.
P.S. Cathy loves this picture but I find it absolutely undignified. Oh well...
