For centuries, western architecture almost universally incorporated the foliate head or "green man" into its ornamental vocabulary. The green man reemerges now as an image that echoes in many of us profoundly; a bridge between our human selves and the unfathomable exuberance of natural energy. With leaves growing from his mouth and forehead he symbolizes the creative process and the eternal cycle of life.
