Aztec Calendar Plaque
The Sun Stone, depicting the sacred 52 year cycle. According to the ancient Maya, the calendars end on December 21, 2012, the Mayan Apocalypse. Then we welcome in a brand new era.
This is an accurate scholarly reproduction of the Sun Stone (similar systems used by Mayan and other MesoAmerican cultures). It shows the five sun creation periods surrounding Tonatiuh, the sun god. 20 symbol day signs and 13 number day signs repeat giving 260 unique days. The agricultural and sacred year cycles continue until they align every 52 years.
